It's Summer Time!!!

This is going to be a crazy busy summer because I'm the maid of honor in two weddings, taking a class, and doing the pageant again. Sad to think this is my last summer as a college student. Weird. Anyway, I just wanted to say Happy Vacation to you! Have a great summer break and have fun! :)

oh the things i've learned...

in class we read this article about advice and we had questions to respond to and one of them was "what is the best advice you have heard and/or would give someone"... so i've been thinking about that all day... here's what i've come up with:

1. always be yourself. as cliche as that is, it's so true. once you find out who you without the social pressures from peers stick with it and run. laugh when you want to laugh. speak out when you want to speak out. dance when you feel like dancing. discovering yourself is one of the most crazy and fun adventures of our young adult lives. don't change your interests because your current crush likes "certain things" and stick to your beliefs and morals even when the world around you criticizes you. so when the world pressures you to conform, "stand tall, puff out your chest, and say, 'uh ugh'" (from my wise friend Eric S. of MTU - spring break 2004).

2. wait for a real, passionate, all consuming love and never settle for less. i've seen so many heartbreaks because people have thought they fell in "love" or because they entered into a relationship with the mentality of "oh this should be fun for right now" but have no long term commitment expectations. so save yourself from unneccessary heartache and remember that YOU are worth so much more than you think and you deserve only the best!!! your future spouse is out there, it may require patience in waiting for them, but trust me, when it comes... it's so worth it.

3. smile and laugh every chance you get. life is just too short to spend your time grumpy or mad at things in this world that you can not change. sure you'll make mistakes and not be happy but learn from them and move on. i'm convinced that laughing is good for your soul. and just think of how a simple smile would brighten someone else's day. try it. i love to laugh and i love to smile.

4. true friends are hard to come by, so hold on to them. we've all had "friends" that have literally just fallen off the face of the earth... or the ones that only call when they need something... or the ones that you casually talk to here and there but don't think of them as best friends (and i'm sure i've been in these categories for other people at some point and time). but when you find those people who you connect with, have fun with, trust, and can talk to about anything - anytime for goodness sake hold on to them! don't ever let a relationship cut you off from those friends; boyfriends and girlfriends are just not worth losing friendships, or the busyness of life with jobs, extracurricular activities, or whatev ... I have some amazing close friends but i've been lucky enough to have found the best friend in the whole wide world and whether or not she likes it, she's stuck with me for life. through thick and thin we've stayed "sisters." so i hope you find that too...

5. finally, meet Jesus. He's a pretty cool guy and He does really awesome work in peoples lives if you allow Him to. If you're weird, or smell funny, or think your unattractive, or snort while you laugh, or maybe you knew Him long ago but strayed away, or even if churches weird you out, He's still into you! and He will always love you. trust me, this is one piece of advice that really pays off in the end. ya know, the "big" end. :)

6 weird things about me

i've been tagged by erinjo - good times.

here are the rules:  people who get tagged will write a blog of their own "6 weird things about you" and state this rule clearly.  in the end they will choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names.  don't forget to leave a comment that says "you are tagged" in their comments and tell them to read your blog.

Weird Fact #1
I'm Asian. Weird right? Ok, maybe not so much. But I had to say it.

Weird Fact #2
I am only really good at cooking 5 dinner dishes... and the only difference between two of them is one is served on a tortilla shell (tacos) and the other on tortilla chips (nachos).

Weird Fact #3
I was a tomboy as a kid. Yea I know some of you may not believe that... but it's true. I only made friends with boys and preferred to hang around boys (as still stands true today), I didn't like dressing up or getting my hair done, and I loved being outside playing in the sun and dirt all day long. And now I'm the most girliest of all girls ... but I still like being outside in the sun. ;)

Weird Fact #4
My nose is just too small. In my high school chemistry lab, i couldn't wear the usual super sexy eye goggle protectors because the bridge of my nose (or lack thereof) left a ginormous gap where chemicals would be free to jump through and burn my eye. I had "special" eyewear... which consisted of a little padding duct taped to the nose area of my teachers goggles. I guess, I'd rather be safe than sorry... but I sure looked silly.

Weird Fact #5
I like to count things in 3's or 7's. I think this is a little OCD coming out... but I just find it entertaining.

Weird Fact #6
I like writing & editing papers. I think it's fun to read someone's work, critique it, and then give suggestions of how to improve their writing skills. I've been known to have friends email me their papers and I'll send it back using the editing tool on Microsoft Word (which most people doesn't know exists). And I enjoy writing and researching my own papers... Call me weird, it's ok. I've come to terms with it.

I'm not sure I have enough friends that haven't already been tagged. So if I tag you again, just ignore it! :)
